John 15:26 but i will send you the Advocate-the Spirit of truth

I hate when my toesies are cold. I don’t love it. The best loungey slippery socks are the Muk Luk cabin socks. The ones with the cozy sherpa innards. I LOVE them. So much. They last FOREVER after multiple wearings and washings. The current pair on my feet are at least two years old. I bought a non-Muk Luk mid-calf version. They looked like they’d keep my toesies toasty warm. But no. They are inferior imposters. I shant be disloyal again.

You know, I kinda feel the Holy Spirit is like a pair of Muk Luk cabin socks. All cozy with the sherpa warmth and goodness of grace lining my soul. The bible (John, I think ) refers to the Holy Spirit as a “Comforter”. I find this to be true. I believe the Holy Spirit is how I feel God because Holy Spirit is the energy aspect of God. All the energetic atomic feels.

I have a theory about this...I shall tangent and expound.

TANGENT:  I think maybe “supernatural” isn’t all that “super” - in that God knows how he made everything and he knows all the inner workings of the inner workings and the quantum level and beyond. There is this quantum phenomenon known as “entanglement”. It is when two electrons - that can be miles away from each other- are connected. They will do the exact same thing at the exact same time. Or something to that effect. I’m not sure how quantum physicists figured this out...but they did. Now...what if...that’s how God gets the Holy Spirit to be everywhere all the time with everyone? Some sort of entanglement on an atomic scale. I don’t know...seems feasible in my mind. Thus, the super in supernatural is only what we don’t know yet about science and how it all works...it's not so super to God. Just saying.

Anyway, back to the Holy Spirit being the Comforter and the way I feel God. I love getting the feels from God. It is THE BEST.  And since I’m a feeler/empath type...I pick up on the vibes of others (this is good and bad, but a post for another time), it is my favorite thing about God and thus...I have a favorite version of him. It's true! The Holy Spirit is my favorite. He makes me feel safe, warm and fuzzy. Like Muk Luk cabin socks. And this makes me feel the most loved and cared for, like my toes in the socks.

It is also because the feelings from the Holy Spirit are snuggly insulated with grace. None of it can happen without grace. Grace is the sherpa goodness. I am a delightful mess at times (see that’s grace right there, deciding to call it “delightful”) and man, if God wasn’t full of grace for me, I would not be feeling so loved. God loves the real me, always. Isn’t that incredible? Such a fabulously freeing feeling! It can be yours too! For reals. I lie not. He does such things for EVERYONE, even the everyones you don’t like. As a lyric from the ironically titled song “Graceless” by The National states - “God loves everybody. Don’t remind me”.  Altho’, to be fair, I did just remind you. Because you are part of the everybody, just like me.

Finding it hard to believe? Ya...I get that. It took me years and years of spiritual work and commitment to my relationship with God to finally believe it. And even now, I still need the reminders. On a conscious level I know it...it's the subconscious level that holds onto the memory of my childhood in a religion that very heavily implied you had to earn God’s love and grace. Such nonsense. But it's hard to shake off at times. Just trust that whoever you fervently love and would do anything for - like your kids or siblings or besties or beloved pet, that is how God loves you. And with that love comes oodles and oodles of never ending grace.

And when you get there...when your soul feels like toesies in a pair of Muk Luk cabin socks, pass it along - that warmth and coziness of grace and love. Someone might just need that recommendation of the spiritual Muk Luk cabin sock experience to realize they, too, might want to snag their own pair.
